“You had to be willing to fight in order for a love story to last a life time…”

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful young couple on their special wedding day.  Now as my followers know, I am an event planner/photographer, and large weddings are not things I normally take on, but when I was asked if I could photograph the wedding of this couple and heard their story, I knew I couldn’t say no.   I am so glad I did too!

Saturday afternoon I met them at the hair salon to get a few “getting ready” shots and lucky for me they were both getting ready in the same location.  So as I usually do, I tell them just pretend I am not there and go about getting ready. Of course, this is easier said than done when you have a camera following you around, but these ladies were great sports and played along.  So I went to work creating their story – starting here on page one.

The air outside might have been a bit chilly as the evening drew on, but inside it was a warm, friendly, down to earth, family atmosphere.  You can tell by all of those in attendance that this couple was all about friends and family.  Even among the chaos at times, everyone just rolled up their sleeves, dug in, and helped make this day very special for the young couple.  It truly showed how with little, you sometimes have more than you can ever imagined.

If I didn’t understand how much love two people can have for each other – especially when it comes to same-sex couples – then I surely do now.   As they got ready, pledged their love to one another, and danced that first dance, I can see that these two young ladies were willing to fight for their love story.  You can tell by how they laughed together and smiled at one another that they were not only best friends, but shared a special bond that I think will last them a lifetime.
